Template:Project improve adTemplate:Bad cleanupRyō (「両」?; 「りょう」) in the original Japanese version of games in the Ōkami series, or Yen (「円」?; en) in the internationalized translation is the currency used in Nippon. It is used for buying goods, paying for new Dojo techniques, or donating to special springs to learn a Template:Scbt. It is earned by defeating demons, smashing pots and other objects, digging, selling items, or through other means.

Yen comes in three different sizes, each with a different value. The smallest size, a green coin with a square opening in the center, is worth ¥10. The medium size, a gold coin with kanji etched into it, is worth ¥100. The largest size, a bigger kanji-marked coin, is worth ¥300. The maximum amount of Yen that can be carried at one time differs by game. In Ōkami, a fully upgraded purse can hold up to ¥99.999.999, while in Ōkamiden, the purse can hold up to ¥9.999.999.

Trivia

  • The Yen is based on the Japanese currency in the real world, although their appearances in game are based on the Koban (¥100 and ¥300) and the Mon (¥1), which were used until the Meiji Era when they were replaced by the actual yen.
  • In both games, all Yen obtained is carried over to New Game+.
