|Attack method||Cutting Guidance paths|
The Phantom Shears are first encountered in the Playhouse, where they float in the air unmoving until Chibiterasu uses Guidance, upon which they attempt to sever the path and stop the partner in their path. If encountered and not stopped while Kurow is floating over a gap, they will cause him to fall into the gap and take damage before reappearing beside Chibiterasu. They resemble a pair of scissors or shears, but their handles are actually bright yellow ears and they have an eye on the connecting point of the two blades.
The Phantom Shears were originally a woman who, after being spurned in her love for someone, committed suicide. As such, it becomes extremely jealous when it sees those who have a bond together and attempts to permanently sever their relationship.
"The spirit of a love-spurned woman who ended her own life.
When she sees people who share a relationship or bond of any kind, she is
filled with envy and anger, and seeks to sever those ties permanently."
The Phantom Shears is invulnerable when dormant, and must be awakened by making a Guidance path near them. As they typically cannot be reached by Divine Instruments (excluding the Providence Crystal), they must be attacked with offensive Celestial Brush techniques, which will kill them with one hit.
- The Phantom Shears are based off of the Amikiri, a particularly disruptive Youkai that loves to cut apart anything that can be considered a net. The Phantom Shears themselves seem to be based on tsukumugami borne from scissors, though there are currently no known scissor tsukumogami names.
